Q5: Desdemona's love for Othello is unconditional. Even when he hits her and calls her a whore, she still says she loves him. At the end, she says she killed herself rather than tell the truth and implicate Othello. Is Desdemona's overwhelming love admirable? Should we pity Desdemona rather than admiring her?
I admire Desdemona's courage, but I think she is stupid. A person can give up his life for other who truly care and love him. However, In Othello's case; Desdemona shouldn't give up her life for Othello because Othello doesn't love her at all. The only reason why Othello wants to marry Desdemona is because she is young and beautiful; he marries her for lust, not for love. If Othello loves Desdemona, he will want her to live no matter what happen. If a man truly fall in love with a woman, he won't hurt her in any case. We should pity Desdemona because her life could be very beautiful if she never meet Othello.
